Fire Destroys Vacant Selmaville Road Home

September 6, 2013

A vacant home that was in the process of being torn down at 30-43 Selmaville Road southwest of Salem was destroyed by fire Friday afternoon.

“We had a single story vacant house, hadn’t been lived in for some time and was in the process of being torn down. It was totally engulfed in flames when we arrived. The owners were aware of what was going on, but did not have anything to dow ith starting the fire–it’s been about 30 days since they’ve been here.” Salem Fire Chief Roger Mann said of the blaze.

The cause of the fire was not determined, but there were no utilities and no one was supposed to have been in the home for the last month. Odin Firemen provided mutual aide assistance.
