$5,000 Reward for Arrest and Conviction of Those Responsible for Continental Tire Bomb Threats

June 8, 2016

Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for two recent bomb threats at the plant.

A company statement also says to ensure the safety of their employees, they will increase various security measures moving forward. They are asking employees for their cooperation and to be prepared for delays entering the facility.

Bomb threats have been made towards the Mixing department on both Friday and Monday nights.  The Mixing department was evacuated in both instances and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office and Secretary of State’s office contacted.  The company says both threats were found not to be credible by local authorities and employees were able to return to work.

As this is a potential federal offense, Continental intends to aggressively pursue all measures to ensure employee safety.

The $5,000 reward will be handled directly through the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (618-244-8004) or anonymously through the Jefferson County Crime Stoppers (618-242-8477).
