Nashville Man Hurt When Car Runs Into House East of Centralia

June 10, 2016

A 45-year-old Nashville, Illinois man was injured early Thursday night when his car left Route 161 near the Barker Road intersection east of Centralia and hit a house.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say Terrance Hopkins of West Lebanon Street was passing vehicles in a no passing zone when he lost control, left the roadway, damaged a stop sign and traveled through the yard and then crashed into the Lance Maxey home at 25-49 State Route 161.

Maxey reported no one inside the home was hurt, but said there was severe damage to part of the home.  Hopkins was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment of injuries.

Hopkins was also ticketed for disobeying a no passing zone, improper lane usage, no insurance, and driving on a revoked license.

The crash occurred at 6:21 Thursday night.
