A 29-year-old Odin man was arrested on multiple charges after his van ran off the road and rolled into a home at 902 McKee Street in Centralia.

Centralia Police were initially called late Tuesday afternoon to a report of an overdose when they found Cody Thompson of South Merritt Street had run into the home.  He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic instrument and driving on a revoked or suspended license.

A witness told police he was walking towards the rear of the home and was nearly struck by Thompson before the van came to rest against the home of Brenda Lawson, knocking a few blocks loose from the foundation.  Thompson was initially unresponsive, but then woke up and attempted to drive off.  At that point, the witness put the van in park and took the keys.

Thompson reportedly passed out again in the back of a squad car.  He was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment before being taken to the Marion County Jail.  The Centralia Fire Deparrtment was also called to the scene to assist.

Police say they found a tenth of a gram of what field tested as heroin in a baggie and a hypodermic syringe in the vehicle.
