Mt. Vernon Man Admits Role in High Speed Chase

June 18, 2016

A 25-year-old Mt. Vernon man has pleaded guilty in Marion County Court to a charge of aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer.

Nikko Branch of South 25th was placed on one year probation, given credit for 84 days served in jail, ordered to undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment and pay court costs.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say Branch refused to stop for a traffic stop on Route 161 near Burge Road.  The resulting high speed chase continued to Route 37, where it turned south into Jefferson County.   A Jefferson County officer ended the chase when putting stop sticks on the highway which disabled Branch’s vehicle.
