Police Beat for Sunday, June 19th, 2016

A 21-year-old Carlyle man faces multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Centralia Saturday night.  Centralia Police say Luke Whitaker of North Railroad Street was a passenger in the vehicle.  He was initially arrested on an outstanding Clinton County warrant for failure to appear for possession of cannabis.  A search turned up other items leading to additional charges of possession of under 5 grams of methamphetamine, possession of under 2.5 grams of cannabis, possession of a narcotic instrument, and possession of drug paraphernalia.   Whitaker was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he remains until a first court appearance on Monday.

Salem Police arrested 24-year-old Russell Wimberly of West Spruce Street in Salem for violation of the sex offender registration act.  He was taken to the Marion County Jail.

43-year-old Jason James of Bond Street in Centralia remained in the Marion County Jail Sunday after being arrested by Centralia Police on an outstanding Marion County felony warrant.

Two others posted bond and were released on outstanding warrants.  23-year-old Kierra Reed of Maulding Drive in Centralia was arrested by Centralia Police on a Fayette County Small Claims Warrant.  She was released after posting $350 bond.  23-year-old Jessica Neal of South Lincoln in Centralia posted $375 bond and was released on a Marion County misdemeanor warrant.
