Rural Vandalia Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

A 61-year-old rural Vandalia man has been arrested on 17 counts of child pornography.   

Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says Manuel Prater was arrested after a search warrant was served on his home Thursday by the Sheriff’s Office, Vandalia Police, and Illinois Attorney General’s Office with help from the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office.  

Prater is being held in the Fayette County Jail on seven Class X felony charges of dissemination of child porn and ten Class 2 felony charges of Possession of Child Pornography.
