Counterfeit $100 Bills Passed in Salem Over the Weekend

June 29, 2016

Salem Police Chief Sean Reynolds says a couple local businesses took in counterfeit $100 bills over the weekend.  He reports they did not realize it until they made their deposits at the bank.

Reynolds is recommending businesses to please examine any $100 bills they receive.  He notes the bills presented do not have the safety strip and are not centered on the paper when examined closely.  Reynolds says the color also appears to be slightly off.

If a business is unsure of the validity of the bill, they may contact the police department for assistance.
