Clinton County Chase Ends in Crash Near New Baden

A Clinton County Sheriff’s Deputy attempting to stop a car for suspicious activity late Thursday afternoon resulted in a chase that ended with a crash on Route 161 a mile east of New Baden.   

Sheriff’s Deputies say two people in the car were injured and were still at the scene, while the driver ran on foot.  After a thorough search the driver was apprehended without incident near the original crash site and taken to the Clinton County Jail.  The names of the three have not been released.

One of those injured was flown by Arch Air Medical to a St. Louis area hospital.  The second person was taken by ambulance to a Belleville area hospital.  

The Clin-Clair Fire Department, New Baden EMS, Sugar Creek EMS, Breese EMS, and Arch Air Medical all assisted at the scene.  New Baden, Trenton, Albers, Aviston, Breese and Germantown Police along with Illinois State Police and Illinois Department of Conservation were involved in the manhunt.
