Mt. Vernon Man Faces Drug Charges Following Vehicle and Foot Chase

A 30-year-old Mt. Vernon man is in custody on multiple charges after fleeing Mt. Vernon Police first in a vehicle and then on foot Sunday night.  

Brett Rogers is being held in the Jefferson County Justice Center for alleged fleeing and attempting to elude police, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possesion of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug equipment and resisting arrest.   

Police say Rogers initially fled in his vehicle when police tried to stop him for improper lane usage near 3rd and Broadway.  After a short distance,  Rogers got out of the car and fled on foot.  He was then taken into custody in the 200 block of Casey.

During a search, officers allegedly located controlled substances, methamphetamine, drug equipment, and currency.
