Salem Woman Faces Several Charges After Running From Police

July 18, 2016

An 18-year-old Salem woman is being held in the Marion County Jail Sunday after allegedly trying to flee on foot from Salem Police.

Police reports indicate Courtney Frazier of Schroeder Drive had been placed in the back seat of a squad car while they were investigating her complaint that she had been battered.  They were initially called to the 300 block of North Maple to a report a car stopped in the roadway with the door open and a woman saying twice, ‘help me’.

Police say Frazier was intoxicated and there were no signs she had been battered.  After getting out of the squad car window, Frazier allegedly ran east bound and ignored officers commands to stop.  She was taken back into custody when she fell near the Walnut and Olive Street intersection.

The call came into Salem Police at 2:21 Sunday morning.
