July 21, 2016

A 62-year-old Vandalia man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty in Fayette County Court Wednesday to five counts of child pornography.  Manuel Prater had been arrested in June as part of Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s ‘Operation Glass House’ statewide initiative to apprehend the most active offenders who download and trade child pornography online.

Prater had originally been charged with ten counts of possession of child pornography and seven counts of dissemination of child pornography.  The remaining charges were dropped as part of the plea.  Prater was arrested at his home following execution of a search warrant were evidence of alleged child pornography was discovered.

Prater will have to serve three years of mandatory supervised release after getting out of prison.
