Kell Man Injured in Sunday Night Wreck on I-57 South of Salem

July 26, 2016

A 28-year-old Kell man was injured in a single vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 57 three miles south of Salem Sunday night.

State Police say witnesses indicate Curtis Thorpe was swerving back and forth in front of them when he suddenly turned hard left leaving the roadway into the center median.  Thorpe’s car then proceeded down the center median and began sliding sideways where it rolled over multiple times.  Thorpe was ejected for the vehicle.  Thorpe was taken to Salem Township Hospital, where he was air lifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana for treatment.

Thorpe was ticketed for improper lane usage, failure to wear a seatbelt, illegal transportation of liquor, and operating an uninsured vehicle.

The crash occurred at 9:23 Sunday night.
