Former Salem Man Arrested After Allegedly Trying to Eat Drugs Following Traffic Stop

August 1, 2016

Aaron Wolfe

A 36-year-old Glen Carbon man, formerly from Salem, was arrested by Centralia Police Saturday afternoon on multiple charges after he allegedly tried to eat some of the drugs in his possession.

Aaron Wolfe is being held in the Marion County Jail for alleged obstructing justice, resisting arrest and possession of 2.5 to 10 grams of cannabis.

Police initially stopped Wolfe for speeding.  They asked him to step out of the car because of the smell of cannabis.  When he did so, several baggies fell to the ground.  Wolfe reportedly pickup one of them that contained a white powdery substance.  Police say Wolfe refused to give up the baggie and eventually was forced to the ground as they tried to keep him from eating the contents.  When Wolfe started reaching towards the waistband of his pants and refused to be handcuffed, police pushed his face into the ground to gain compliance.

Police recovered three baggies of cannabis as well as the baggie corner that contained the white powdery substance.  Some small flakes tested positive for heroin.  Wolfe was charged with obstructing justice for eating the alleged drug.

Wolfe was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of a minor facial injury before being transferred to the Marion County Jail.
