August 14, 2016

A 26-year-old Salem woman was arrested by Salem Police for domestic battery after she struck her boyfriend in front of them.  Police say they initially responded to the Sarah Nibert home in Salem Mobile Home Park to take a complaint that Sarah had struck her mother.  While her mother didn’t want to sign a complaint, police noted Sarah’s boyfriend, Dennis Sloat, trying to restrain her to keep her out of further trouble.   She was taken into custody after striking him.

20-year-old Trevor Carroll of Merritt Street of Odin remained in custody Saturday after being arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s in connection with another domestic battery case.

23-year-old Jessie Bell of Howard Street in Centralia was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies for burglary to a motor vehicle.  Bell is accused of taking a purse from a car on the Biggie’s Cafe parking lot on Route 161 east of Centralia.  Several witnesses reported the incident to the sheriff’s department who had two deputies nearby.  The car Bell was driving was stopped near the Bell Club Road.  Two others in the car confirmed Bell had taken the purse and had later thrown it out the window.  The purse and items inside were later found scattered along the roadway.

A 45-year-old Salem man was arrested for resisting or obstructing a peace officer.  Ronald Sands of South Hamilton Street is accused of interfering with Salem Police when they were investigating a domestic dispute between two others at the address.
