Detached Garage and Contents Destroyed By Fire in Sandoval

September 16, 2016

A detached garage and its contents in Sandoval were destroyed by fire late Thursday night.

Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson says heavy flames were showing from the garage owned by Tyler Foster at 124 South Mine with fire coming through the roof upon their arrival. The fire was knocked down and under control in about 30 minutes. The building was a total loss as well as the four vehicles inside and outside the garage.

Firemen were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the home several feet away, but some of the siding did melt.

The State Fire Marshal will be called to investigate the cause, but the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

There were no injuries and no mutual aide. ESDA was called for traffic control as U.S. 51 had to be shut down to lay water lines across the highway.

Firemen were on the scene for about two hours, beginning at 11 Thursday night.
