I-57 Crash South of Salem Injures One of the Drivers

September 16, 2016

One of the drivers was injured in a semi truck-SUV crash on north bound I-57 seven miles south of Salem Thursday morning.

State Police say the semi driven by 50-year-old Russell Scott Fitzpatrick of Wayland, Michigan moved from the driving to the passing lane as an SUV started to pass the truck. The truck struck the SUV driven by 33-year-old Jessica Lynn of Carbondale, forcing it into the median.

Lynn was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of apparent minor injuries.

Fitzpatrick was not injured, but was ticketed for improper lane usage.

The crash occurred at 10:45 Thursday morning.
