Wamac Mobile Home Fire Catches Fire Again

October 21, 2016

Centralia Fire Protection District officials were called back Thursday night for a fire at the same mobile home that caught fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Greg Earle says the two fires were on opposite ends of the mobile home and appear unrelated.

The first fire at the Angela Akerman home at 222 Chicago Avenue number 5 was blamed on a stove fire that got into an open space above the ceiling. It caused heavy smoke and water damage throughout the mobile home.

Earle says after spending a day cleaning up the mobile home, Akerman and others had left about a half hour before the second fire broke out in the east end of the mobile home around 10:15 Thursday night. With the north end burned off, the mobile home is now expected to be a total loss.

There were no injuries.

The State Fire Marshals office has been called in to try and determine the cause of the fire. There were no utilities on at the home.

The fire call came in at 10:15 Thursday night. Firemen were on the scene until about 12:45 Friday morning.
