Fire Causes Estimated $2,000 Damage to Centralia Home

Cigarettes dumped into a kitchen trash can is blamed for starting a Sunday afternoon fire that caused minor damage to a home owned by Alan Bierman at 1017 South Cherry in Centralia.

City Fire Officials say flames could be seen through the window upon their arrival. The fire was quickly put out, causing minor fire and smoke damage to the kitchen.

Damage to the home was estimated at $1,500, with another $500 damage to the contents.

The fire call came in at 1:42 Sunday afternoon. No additional firefighters had to be called in to assist in putting out the fire.
