Christmas In The Park

December 15, 2016

The city of Mt Vernon will be hosting their Christmas In The Park this Friday and Saturday. The event is at Veterans Park South 27th Street in Mt Vernon and will open at 6pm each of the two evenings and close at 9pm. The free drive through takes about 15 minutes entering on the West side of the park off 27th street. Organizers say there will be a line on 27th street so expect to sit a little while in your car, arriving at about 8:30pm you will find little to no line.

There will be 12 displays with the first six all about the joy of Santa and giving and receiving gifts. This year they will have 4 musical groups singing Christmas Songs. The 2nd set of 7 through 12 displays tell the story of Jesus and how he changed the World by his birth, life, death and resurrection to life again.

Thousands of lights are on display and hundreds of volunteers with live animals and people tell the story of Christmas. Everyone is welcome and it is totally free. They do provide a place to make a donation which is used to pay for the Christmas Basket Program of Jefferson County Ministerial Association.
