State Police Release More Details on I-57 Crash Involving Semi, Motor Home, and Car

State Police have released preliminary investigative details into a crash involving a semi and a motor home pulling a car. The crash occurred late Sunday night on I-57 southbound at mile marker 107 under the Kell Road overpass south of the Route 161 exit.

Police say the motor home pulling the car was driven by 30-year-old Jason Harmon of White Heath, Illinois. It was hit in the rear by the semi driven by 60-year-old Edward Kalisz of Oshawa, Ontario.

The semi left the right side of the road after impact, rolled onto its side, and then impacted the concrete bridge support. The motor home pulling the car skidded sideways into the center median rolling onto its side and impacting the center concrete bridge support.

Harmon and three passengers in the motor home, 29-year-old Jessica Harmon of White Heath and two and four-year-old children were all taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment. Kalisz escaped injury.

State Police say charges could be filed following further investigation.

The crash occurred at 10:56 Sunday night. Both Kell Firemen and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted State Police at the scene.
