Kinmundy Man Faces Charges Following Wild Ride on I-57

December 28, 2016

A 24-year-old Kinmundy man lost control of his car while apparently traveling at a very high rate of speed and went on a wild ride on Interstate 57 near the Kinmundy-Patoka exit.

Preliminary investigative details from State Police indicate Joshua Daugherty was traveling southbound in the left lane of I-57 near milepost 126 when he went off the left side of the road, crossed the center median and both north bound lanes of traffic. His can then went off the east side of the road and traveled into the northbound ditch were he sideswiped several trees. Daugherty came to a final rest facing south in the ditch east of the Interstate.

Kinmundy-Alma Fire Chief Kevin Day says Daugherty was out of the car upon their arrival. He was transported to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Daugherty was ticketed for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and reckless driving.
