Police Beat for Monday, January 2nd, 2017

The quiet start to the New Year continued on New Year Day, with just one person being brought to the Marion County Jail.

Salem Police arrested 34-year-old Christopher Weking of Hester Drive in Centralia for possession of a controlled substance after being called to a report of a person possibly smoking cannabis in a car in the Woods Lane area. Police report Weking gave permission to search. Cannabis was allegedly found in the car and some narcotic drugs in his pocket. Weking remains in custody pending the posting of bond.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old Centralia woman arrested for possession of a controlled substance by Central City Police on New Year Eve has been released from the Marion County Jail. Brenda Ramsey of South Sycamore posted $1,000 cash to gain release on the $10,000 bond that had been set by a judge over the long holiday weekend.
