Marion County Homestead Renewal and Senior Assessment Freeze Forms in the Mail

January 27, 2017

Marion County Supervisor of Assessments Mark Miller says the 2017 homestead renewal forms and senior assessment freeze forms were mailed on Wednesday.

Senor citizens who are 65 years of age or older in 2017 and are owners of record, responsible for paying property taxes, and who occupy the property as their principle residence are eligible for the senior homestead exemption regardless of income. Miller notes this is a $5,000 reduction in assessed value. If you have not signed up, you may do so at the Supervisor of Assessments office.

Senior citizens with a total household income of $55,000 or less are also eligible for the senior homestead freeze exemption.

If you have not received your forms within the next few weeks, you may obtain them by coming to Room 101 at the Marion County Courthouse, or by contacting the Supervisor of Assessments office at 548-3853.

First time applicants must apply in person in the Supervisor of Assessment office.
