Sandoval Man Posts $50,000 Cash Bond on Sexual Assault Charges

January 27, 2017

A 48-year-old rural Sandoval man has been released from the Marion County Jail after posting $50,000 cash bond on two class X charges of predatory criminal sexual assault and a single felony charge of criminal sexual assault.

The $500,000 bond, or $50,000 cash, was set by Judge Marc Kelly when Darin Brandt made his first appearance in court Wednesday on the charges. As part of the bond conditions, Brandt is not allowed to have contact with the two boys who are alleged to have been abused in the court charges, have no unsupervised contact with persons under 18, and have no contact with the Sandoval School District.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say the investigation, including if there are other victims, is continuing. Brandt was arrested following an investigation that began after one of the victim’s mothers saw a concerning text message on her son’s phone.
