Salem Woman Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer

February 9, 2017

A 26-year-old Salem woman has pleaded guilty in Marion County Court to aggravated battery to a police officer.

Amanda Cripps was placed on four years probation and given credit for 68 days served in the Marion County Jail.

Cripps had been arrested in December after punching a sheriff’s deputy in the shoulder who attempted to stop her while she was walking on Maplewood Avenue just north of Salem. The sheriff’s department had been called to the area to a report of an unwanted woman in a home. Cripps had left before their arrival but was later located walking down the street.

Cripps entered the plea after she had been found fit to stand trial. A charge of criminal trespass to a residence was dropped as part of the plea.
