Eviction Leads to Arrest of Centralia Man on Drug Charge

March 5, 2017

A 40-year-old Centralia man had bond set at $15,000 after being charged in Marion County Court Friday morning with possession of a controlled substance.

Central City Police say Andrew Cranford of Lakewood Drive was arrested when coming home to his former residence in the 300 block of North Marion during a court-ordered eviction. A sheriff’s official and Central City Police say they found six narcotic pills lying in plain view on a coffee table. They also allegedly found assorted pipes with drug residue. Cranford claimed the pills were for a medical condition, but police say he could not produce a prescription.

Cranford had public defender Craig Griffith appointed to represent him.

If released on bond, Cranford was ordered to have no drugs or alcohol, with random testing. A preliminary hearing in the case was set for March 28th.
