Alabama Man Sentenced for Farmers State Bank Robbery in Central City Last August

March 23, 2017

A 38-year-old Alabama man has been sentenced to 115 months in federal prison for his role in the August 26th bank robbery of the Farmers State Bank in Central City.

George David Treece was also ordered to pay a $300 fine, a $100 special assessment, $345 in restitution to the Farmers State Bank and to complete three years of supervised release when getting out of prison. Treece has been held without bond since his arrest shortly after the robbery.

Treece reportedly entered the bank and demanded from a teller. After the teller removed the money from her drawer and placed it on the counter, Treece took the money and left. A high-speed chase followed that ended when Treese crashed his vehicle. Later that day, federal prosecutors say Treece admitted robbing the bank.

The case was investigated by the Central City Police Department, Centralia Police Department, Wamac Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
