Two People Injured in Two Vehicle Crash at Illinois Route 37 and 161

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Illinois Route 37 and Illinois Route 161 north of Kell late Tuesday morning.

State Police say 58-year-old George Linder of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee was southbound when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. Linder ran into the rear driver’s side of a car driven by 24-year-old Raygena Sweet of Centralia.

Sweet went to Salem Township on her own. A passenger in her car, 85-year-old Audrey White of Kell, was taken to Salem Township Hospital by Marion County EMS. Linder and his passenger, 49-year-old Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, escaped injury.

Linder ws ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device. The crash occurred at 10:55 am.
