Police Beat for Friday, April 28th, 2017

Salem Police arrested a 29-year-old Odin man for driving under the influence and unlawful use of weapons following a Thursday night traffic stop in the 500 block of West Main. Levi Cavins of North Everett was also given city ordinance violation tickets for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. He was released after posting $100 bond and his drivers license.

An attempt to stop an 18-year-old Salem man riding a bike after dark without a light led to a foot chase by Salem Police Thursday night. Police say Trevor Lewis of West Warmoth ditched the bike near College and Allmon and ran about two blocks before being taken into custody. He also received a city ordinance violation ticket for possession of a small amount of cannabis.

Salem Police arrested two others on outstanding warrants. 20-year-old Jacob Holman of Ticklen Road in Odin was arrested on an outstanding felony failure to appear warrants for possession of methamphetamine in both Marion and Jefferson Counties. 25-year-old Damien Stanford of East Camp in Iuka was arrested on a Marion County failure to appear warrant for reckless driving. Both were taken to the Marion County Jail.

45-year-old Billy Porter of West 17th Street in Centralia was taken to the Marion County Jail by Centralia Police after being arrested on an outstanding Effingham County felony warrant.
