May 4, 2017

An 18-year-old Patoka man has pleaded guilty in Marion County Court to an aggravated battery charge.

Joseph Mengarelli admitted to striking Jacob Beezhold of Quail Run Road in Salem after a verbal confrontation last month in the Hardee’s Parking Lot in Salem. Mengarelli reportedly had his hand wrapped around a metal chain when he hit Beezhold in the forehead. Beezhold declined hospital treatment.

Mengarelli was placed on two years probation, given credit for 14 days served in the Marion County Jail, ordered to undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, and pay court costs.
