May 14, 2017

A 22-year-old Salem man has been formally charged in Marion County Court for alleged aggravated domestic battery. Brandon Chapman of South Marshall is accused of impeding the breathing of Alexandria Todd during a domestic dispute at her home Thursday night. Bond for Chapman was set at $25,000. He was released after posting $2,500 cash bond. As part of his release from jail, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim or her residence, not drink any alcohol and undergo random testing. The public defender was appointed to represent him. A preliminary hearing is set for May 30th.

A 23-year-old Centralia woman has been released on $10,000 personal recognizance bond after being charged in Marion County Court with misdemeanor theft. Daniella Brown of Allison Street is accused of purchasing a large number of items at the Central City Dollar General Store just before closing last month. While the cashier was ringing up items, she took some of the merchandise out to her car. When the cashier was finished, Brown presented a check that was rejected. She promised to come back the next day and pay but didn’t remove the items from her car that were valued at more than $100. Brown reportedly had given the store a phone number when presenting the check. It belonged to a man who led police to Brown.
