Wamac Continues Dilapidated Property Commitment

Wamac has continued to take a stance against properties that have fallen in disrepair. At this week’s city council meeting the council voted to authorize the city to take court action regarding a trio of properties. They are located on South Franklin Street, Wabash Avenue and Case Street. One in each of the city’s 3 wards. Mayor Butch Mathis stating that the properties have already been condemned.

In other business, the council approved the purchase of a new police vehicle at the price of $30,973. It is a Ford Explorer. Approval was given by the council on the purchase of a John Deere Gator at a cost of $10,193. An audit contract with Susan Lyons was approved in the amount of $3000. It refelcts a $250 increase over the last contract. The council accepted a bid of $619.11 from Firestone for four tires and alignment for a city pickup truck.
