Farina Man Receives 4 1/2 Year Prison Term for Aggravated Criminal Sexual A

June 10, 2017

A 35-year-old Farina man has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison after pleading guilty in Fayette County Court at Vandalia to aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Judge Don Sheafor handed down the sentence to Cody Jones.

Jones admitted to taking improper actions against a girl last November between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age. A second count was dismissed as part of the plea.

The prison time will run concurrent to a six-year prison term Jones received in April in Effingham County for residential burglary. Charges of receiving or selling stolen vehicles were dropped at the time of that plea.

Jones still faces two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle in Marion County. The charges relate to the theft of two vehicles in the Kinmundy area.

All the charges stem from a day-long series of offenses last November that began in Kinmundy and ended in Mason in Southern Effingham County.
