Five Hurt in Downtown Centralia Crash

Centralia Police say five people were injured in a two vehicle crash at McCord and Poplar in downtown Centralia late Friday morning.

Police reports indicate an SUV driven by 24-year-old Rebecca Sheffield of Harrison Avenue in Junction City ran a red light while westbound on McCord Street and struck the front passenger side of a van driven by 31-year-old Joshua Towal of Northwood Lane in Salem. Both drivers, along with three passengers in the Towal van were injured. The passengers are identified as 7-year-old Cadence, 4-year-old Hadley, and 10-year-old Walker Towal all of Salem.

Sheffield was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Centralia Fire Department and ambulance personnel.

The crash occurred at 11:20 Friday morning.
