Salem man charged with battery in baseball bat attack

SALEM — A 38-year-old Salem man was formally charged this morning in Marion County Court with felony battery following his arrest by Salem police.

Randy S. Mitchell has been charged with Class 3 felony aggravated battery with a weapon.

According to reports, Mitchell struck a 23-year-old Centralia man with a bat. Both men were injured in the incident and were taken to the hospital treatment.

Mitchell was arrested upon his release from the hospital.
