ISP Report Fatal Crash On Route 1

The Illinois State Police in District 19 responded to a fatal traffic crash on Monday afternoon. According to initial reports, a 2009 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was traveling north on Illinois Route 1 and was passing multiple vehicles. While in the southbound lane, the 54 year old male and a 53 year old passengers cycle approached another stopped vehicle at the stop sign on Wabash County Road 1800N at Route 1. The driver of the motorcycle applied the brakes and the motorcycle laid over on its side.

The driver was transported by Wabash General Hospital Ambulance Service to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The passenger was transported by Life Flight to a regional hospital for injuries she sustained in crash.

The names are not being released pending further investigation.

A State Police Crash Reconstruction Officer was assigned to assist with the crash. District 19 officers were assisted at the crash scene by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, Mount Carmel Fire Department, Allendale Fire Department and the Wabash General Hospital Ambulance Service. The Wabash County Coroner’s Office is also involved with the investigation.
