July 9, 2017

FRANKLIN COUNTY — Two people were airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of injuries they suffered in a crash Friday on Interstate 57 south of Ina.

According to Illinois State Police, 67-year-old Keith Kottman, of Fenton, Mo., was driving his 2017 Ford edge northbound around 5:45 p.m. on I-57 when around MM 77 his vehicle traveled off the roadway onto the left shoulder and into the median.

The vehicle struck a ridge in the median and overturned several times. Kottman and his 59-year-old passenger Lise Kottman, also of Fenton, were entrapped in the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

The Ewing-Northern Fire Department extricated both occupants from the vehicle and they were both airlifted from the scene.

Earlier reports that a semi was involved in the crash were incorrect.
