Two Sandoval Residents Injured in Motorcycle Crash in Jasper County

July 16, 2017

Two Sandoval residents riding a motorcycle were injured in a crash on Illinois Route 49 two miles north of Yale in Jasper County.

State Police say preliminary investigative details indicate a van driven by 37-year-old Scott Hamilton of Robinson was traveling north on Route 49 when he slowed to turn into a private lane without signaling. The motorcycle driven by 51-year-old John Boatright of Sandoval was attempting to pass the Hamilton van when the van entered the southbound lane of traffic. Boatright laid the motorcycle down to avoid a collision. No contact was made between the cycle and van.

Both John Boatright and a passenger, 48-year-old Tammy Boatright of Sandoval, were transported to Carle Hospital in Urbana for non-life threatening injuries.

Hamilton was cited for failure to signal when required to do so.

The crash occurred at 9:50 Saturday morning.
