James E. White was initially arrested and booked around 3:30 Monday morning on two counts possession of a controlled substance and manufacture with the intent to deliver between 10-30 grams of cannabis.

White was formally charged later Monday with Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of between 10-30 grams of cannabis. His bail was set at $10,000 and he was released from the Clinton County Jail after posting $1,000 cash bond.

White’s request in court Monday for the appointment of a public defender was denied. He is next scheduled to appear in court July 24 for a status hearing.

According to CHS Superintendent Chuck Lane, White teaches Social Science. Lane believes White has been employed with the school approximately 30 years but would have to verify that time with records at the school.
