Salem Man Arrested On Drug Charge After Reportedly Chased by Another Vehicle

July 24, 2017

Salem Police have arrested an 18-year-old Salem man on two counts of possession of a controlled substance after he initially told police he was being chased from Bryan Memorial Park by another vehicle.

Alexander Russell of North Lakeview Drive drove to the Salem Police Station followed by the other vehicle. Russell and the other driver reportedly talked before both left.

Police later stopped both vehicles. Alexander’s car was searched due to a smell of burnt cannabis in the vehicle. Two pill bottles with narcotic prescription drugs were found leading to the arrest.

A window was reportedly broken out of Alexander’s car, but police say he declined to press charges.

Alexander was taken to the Marion County Jail. The incident occurred at 11:03 Saturday night.
