Kell Woman Injured in Two Vehicle Crash Blamed on Her Dog

July 28, 2017

A 38-year-old Kell woman was injured in a two vehicle crash on the Kell Road Wednesday night.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say Jennifer Hefner of North Jefferson swerved when her small dog got under her feet while she was driving. Her van crashed into a truck owned by 41-year-old Kenneth Ecca of Alma. Ecca had parked the truck on the side of the road after running out of gas.

Hefner was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Kell Fire Chief Lonnie McDaneld says it appeared the van may have overturned before coming to a stop. Firemen had to pop open the door of Hefner’s car to get her out.

The crash occurred at 7 Wednesday night.
