Centralia Man Arrested After Pickup Strikes House

August 4, 2017

A 56-year-old Centralia man is being held in the Marion County Jail after his pickup truck ran off of East McCord Street and into a house Friday afternoon.

Dickie Whipple of North Beech was arrested for driving under the influence and driving on a revoked or suspended drivers license. Centralia Police say Whipple left the north side of East McCord 25 west of Jonas, crossed the sidewalk and struck the east side of the Pamela Hill home at 936 East McCord.

Police say the impact knocked a 10 foot hole in the foundation and damaged some of the siding on the home. The concrete from the damaged foundation flew into the basement and damaged a dryer and cabinets.

Police say when they first arrived 50-year-old Lynette Lee of North Beach in Centralia was sitting in the driver’s seat. However, witnesses told them the man who was in the passenger seat was actually driving. Lee eventually admitted Whipple was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Both refused medical treatment.

The crash occurred around three Friday afternoon.
