Two Arrested on Drug Charges Following Separate Traffic Stops

August 18, 2017

Separate traffic stops have resulted in two drug arrests Wednesday night.

Salem Police arrested 21-year-old Jacob Hayes of North Marion in Salem for manufacture or delivery of 10 to 30 grams of cannabis. Police had initially approached Hayes because his vehicle was illegally parked at Marion and McMackin Street. After smelling a strong oder of raw cannabis, police say cannabis was located in Hayes’ shoe. Police also located a scale and numerous baggies consistent with a narcotic sale.

Central City Police arrested 28-year-old Nicholas Hatfield of Centralia for possession of under five grams of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and no valid drivers license after he was stopped for not signaling and other lighting problems. Hatfield allegedly admitted to having a syringe. Police report the plunger tested positive for the possession of meth.

Both were taken to the Marion County Jail.
